What's New?

Center for Research on Learning and TeachingThe Center is dedicated to the support and advancement of learning and teaching at the University of Michigan. It does this by providing grants, seminars related to teaching, consultations, and other services.

CToolsA web based product used at the University of Michigan to author course web pages. You can easily link to electronic versions of readings for the course, post information about class deadlines and events, use the Discussion and/or Chat features to provide the class an opportunity to discuss issues raised in the class, and provide a place for students to submit their assignments. The Faculty Exploratory regularly offers classes on how to use CTools. To find out about and register for the classes, click here and then choose Workshops & Registration.

You can also get individual assistance in setting up a class web page on CTools in the Faculty Exploratory located on the second floor of the Graduate Library.

Reserve Services – A way to put class readings in one location no matter what the format of the readings. For instance, you may put on Reserves books owned by the University Library, journal articles, and your own copies of items, such as lecture notes, solutions to homework, sample exams, private copies of books and journal articles, conference proceedings, etc. The Reserves staff will take care of getting copyright permission when necessary and paying any fees that are involved. If there are readings that are currently not available electronically but which you would like to have available in that format, then Reserves will put up electronic versions of book chapters (limited to one or two chapters from an individual title), journal articles, and, at your request, your lecture notes, homework solutions, sample exams, etc. Each of the links to the individual library reserve services will include information on how to put something on reserve at that library. You can link to the items you have on reserve electronically directly through CTools.
